HOW TO WALK ON YOUR OWN PATH IN LIFE
AUGUST 1, 2009
The basic wisdom of life is that we can only be ourselves - we cannot be someone else. Would we really like to exchange our life with the life of someone else? I mean really changing the whole life, not just an aspect? Would we be willing to lose all our dear family members and friends, our talents and unique experiences? Do we really want to change everything?

Some people are envious about other people; they think they have a better job or a bigger house or a nicer family, but they don't take into account that if they change their lives with the other person, then they have to take everything! They don't know about that other person. The other person may look fine on the outside, but on the inside there may be torment or a lot of issues that you don't see.

HOW TO WALK ON YOUR OWN PATH IN LIFE

How about those that don't know what they would like to do? They know that they are not happy, and that is some of the reason why they are looking to imitate others. They are looking and searching for that happiness. Therefore, they should find out what they love doing. They have to understand that happiness won't happen if they are just copying another person.

The only chance we have is to be the best version of ourselves that is possible. Since we cannot be someone else, we need to make the best of what is possible in our lives. In order to become the best version of ourselves, our task is to find out who we really are, for what unique reason we are on earth, and what we love doing. We should get as good as we can at it and see what opportunities knock at our door and what possibilities we can create.

Black Belt Spirit

I have learned to choose my own way in my Karate lessons.  At first when I was a color belt, I used to ask my Karate teacher, "How should I do this? How should I do that? What is right? What is wrong? What is correct? What should I do?" He finally told me "You have to choose your own way, you have to show what you do with enthusiasm and you have to mean it. It doesn't matter if this is what someone else expects or not; care about that what you do is a good thing."

Living with the black belt spirit means walking your own path, showing discipline, standing up for yourself when necessary, showing self confidence while being modest, moving beyond limitations and obstacles, and supporting the good, fair and just. Learn to endure difficult circumstances, and you'll have more options in life. Living with the black belt spirit means to have the courage to be yourself, and to give your all to whatever you do.

Being true and authentic

If you are not true and authentic, you will never be able to find your own path, because what you find is the path of someone else. It will be the path of the role that you play. Many people worship originality, since they know how hard it is to open up and to show your inner core. If you try to copy someone else, you will just be a cheap copy of the other person and nobody will appreciate that because the other person is already there. The world needs the unique talents that you have to contribute.

How to prevent other people from dissuading you from doing what can be done

You shouldn't let people interrupt you doing what can be done just because they believe it cannot be done. When someone tells you to not do what you would like to do, always ask yourself "How would this person benefit from you not following your plan? Or what disadvantage would this person suffer from when you followed your plan?" If it is an unbiased person and somebody who wants your best, then you should consider listening to this person. However, keep in mind that even good friends might not be able to see the whole picture, or to understand why your chosen path is right for you.

It is always up to you what you do in your life, and you have to take responsibility for what you do because nobody else knows what is right for you. You can listen to the advice of others if they have experience, but you still have to make your own decisions because your life is different and also the situation might be slightly different. Whatever you would like to do, if there is someone else who is doing it, or if it seems possible to you, then try it anyhow, no matter what others think or say. Don't let others stop you from doing what you love to do. Don't give up. A long breath has already overcome many obstacles.

QUOTATION OF THE MONTH

Buddha expressed very well that we have to walk our own path when he said:

"No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path."

I wish you a great month of August, and I will be happy to talk to you during one of my upcoming teleclasses.
